She will alert the specialists needed which may include the trauma surgeon. A trauma surgeon is always available on site 24 hours a day 7 days a week to deal with life threatening injuries.

If the patient needs to be admitted the trauma surgeon assumes primary responsibility for the patient s care and provides follow up care.
